We are on the lookout for a qualified Chief Mate looking for their next opportunity! Located at Port Huon, this exciting position will be on the Huon Supply.

The role

The Chief Mate will assist the Master in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of Feed Delivery Vessels, while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in the Master's absence.

Key responsibilities include:

• Overseeing cargo loading and unloading processes, maintenance activities, and coordinating the efficient delivery of feed, diesel, fuel, potable water, and waste removal under the Master's direction.
• Fostering strong team dynamics and fulfilling crew member duties as needed, including cargo handling and maintenance and repair tasks.
• Collaborating closely with the Chief Engineer to ensure vessel seaworthiness, adhering to the planned maintenance management system, and maintaining compliant records.
• Monitoring and reviewing safety management systems, promptly reporting any deficiencies as required.

This opportunity is based at Port Huon and operates on a 7 days on, 7 days off roster.

About you

• You hold a Master <45m Near Coastal or equivalent and bring extensive experience managing vessel survey requirements.
• You are an excellent communicator who enjoys building strong relationships with stakeholders.
• You have a proven track record of working proactively and focusing on continuous improvement.
• You are confident in your ability to use the Microsoft Office suite.
• You demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and maintain precise and accurate records.
