Our Forest Home hatchery has an opportunity for a self-motivated individual passionate about aquaculture!

The role

The Hatchery Technician plays an important part in supporting Hatchery operations and maintaining the welfare of our fish to a high standard. As part of small hands-on team, you will:

• Undertake routine checks and advise the manager on site of any adjustments required to maintain high standards of fish welfare.
• Perform routine water quality system monitoring and coordinate water samples.
• Flush water systems and clean tanks.
• Feed fish and conduct weight checks and fish sampling to monitor and screen fish performance.

Located in Judbury, you will be working full-time on a 7 on 7 off roster and may be required to participate in overnight shifts. This position comes with the opportunity to complete your Cert III in Aquaculture.

About you

• You ideally have a combination of practical fish husbandry experience and a qualification in Aquaculture or related field, or a basic understanding of fish biology and water chemistry.
• You are enthusiastic and self-motivated with a positive attitude, willing to work in all environments and conditions.
• You are an excellent communicator with the ability to work effectively autonomously and within a small team.
• You can undertake the physically demanding requirements of this role in a safe manner.
• You have a keen eye for detail and a proactive focus on continually looking to improve processes.
