Are you a seasoned environmental professional ready to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic and values-driven industry?

Huon Aquaculture is seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Manager to champion our environmental and regulatory obligations across operations. This is a senior role that sits at the intersection of science, strategy, and stakeholder engagement ensuring our practices not only meet regulatory standards but set benchmarks for sustainable aquaculture.

The Role

As the Environmental Compliance Manager, you’ll play a key role in:

  • Overseeing Huon’s environmental and regulatory compliance obligations
  • Managing and evolving our Environmental Management Framework
  • Advising on regulatory frameworks and identifying risks, challenges, and opportunities
  • Preparing and presenting reports and documentation for regulators and stakeholders
  • Leading internal environmental compliance meetings and updates
  • Supporting community and government engagement on environmental matters

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and oversee environmental databases, registers, licenses, and documentation
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to non-compliance and regulatory breaches
  • Guide site teams on best practice and improvement opportunities
  • Lead internal environmental committees and reporting cycles
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies including EPA, Aquaculture Branch, and local councils

 

About You

You’re a confident and collaborative professional with:

  • A degree in Marine Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related field
  • Extensive experience navigating environmental legislation and compliance frameworks
  • Proven success implementing Environmental Management Systems (EMS)
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work independently and influence across diverse teams
  • Aquaculture experience (or a deep understanding of the industry) is highly desirable
  • A current Driver’s Licence and flexibility to travel
