Huon Aquaculture, we’ve grown to become industry leaders in sustainable aquaculture — from our land-based nurseries, to our award-winning sea pens, to the precision of our processing operations.

Our salmon is Oceans Ahead. Always.

Behind every premium product is a safe, high-performing workplace. That’s where you come in.

We’re looking for a Work Health & Safety Advisor to join our team at our state-of-the-art Sassafras Processing Facility, just 20 minutes from Devonport. This role offers strong visibility across our Tasmanian processing operations and connection to our Ingleburn (NSW) site — giving you exposure to a dynamic, multi-site processing environment.

Why This Role Matters

Our processing plants are fast-paced, highly regulated environments where food safety, people safety, and operational excellence intersect.

As our WHS Advisor, you won’t sit behind a desk.

You’ll be visible, trusted and hands-on — partnering with leaders and frontline teams to proactively manage risk, embed best practice, and continuously lift safety performance across our sites.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Build strong, engaging relationships at all levels across the business.
  • Provide practical, technical WHS advice that leaders can act on.
  • Facilitate and coach leaders through risk assessments and hazard identification.
  • Lead meaningful toolbox discussions and on-floor interactions.
  • Anticipate, identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices.
  • Contribute to the development and review of SOPs and WHS procedures.
  • Conduct and record scheduled WHS field inspections.
  • Support WHS audits and systems improvements.
  • Participate in incident investigations ensuring accurate reporting and learning outcomes.
  • Monitor workplace conditions through regular site visits and field engagement.
  • Support routine inspection and stocking of safety equipment.
  • Champion WHS initiatives and promote a proactive safety culture.

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualifications in WHS (or equivalent workplace experience).
  • A genuine passion for coaching and influencing positive safety behaviours.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to proactively solve problems.
  • Confidence identifying risks and taking action to eliminate or reduce them.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills — you can adapt your message to the audience.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills across diverse operational teams.

Experience in food manufacturing, processing, aquaculture or heavy industry environments will be highly regarded.
