We are seeking motivated leaders to join our freshwater team as Assistant Hatchery Managers, with vacancies available at Forest Home, Whale Point, and Lonnavale. This is a hands-on leadership role supporting daily hatchery and nursery operations while ensuring the highest standards of fish welfare and system performance.
About the role
As an Assistant Hatchery Manager, you’ll support the Hatchery Manager and lead day‑to‑day activities at your site. Working a 7 days on, 7 days off roster, key responsibilities include:
- Providing positive leadership, training, and mentoring to employees
- Allocating daily duties and ensuring tasks are completed safely and to standard
- Completing and reviewing daily checklists and paperwork
- Maintaining strong communication with key stakeholders across freshwater operations
- Performing routine hatchery tasks including feeding, cleaning, grading, and water testing
About you
You’re an experienced aquaculture professional with strong leadership capability and a passion for freshwater operations. You bring:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a recirculation facility
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams
- Strong communication, organisation, and problem‑solving skills
- The ability to train and mentor less experienced employees
- Ideally a Certificate III in Aquaculture and Wader training
