We’re growing our Hobart-based Control Room team and are looking for an additional Control Room Operator to join us on a permanent full-time basis. This is a unique opportunity to work at the centre of Huon’s fish performance operations, using cutting-edge AI feeding technology to support fish health, performance, and sustainable farming outcomes.
Working a rotating 4 days on / 3 days off roster, this role offers a dynamic environment where no two days are the same. The roster includes:
- Week 1: Sunday – Wednesday
- Week 2: Sunday – Tuesday
Start and finish times vary depending on operational requirements, so flexibility is important. Shifts may commence as early as 4:45am or finish as late as 9:30pm.
What you’ll be doing
- Monitoring and controlling daily feeding operations across our marine pens using advanced Pellet Recognition Software.
- Identifying and escalating unusual fish behaviour, environmental changes, or equipment issues.
- Reviewing operational data including feed rates, fish weights, mortalities, and performance trends.
- Working closely with marine and production teams to support smooth and efficient operations.
- Contributing ideas and insights that help improve fish performance and operational efficiency.
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring high attention to detail in all monitoring activities.
About you
You might come from aquaculture, farming, operations, logistics, gaming, tech, or another fast-paced environment -what matters most is your ability to stay focused, think critically, and make good decisions under pressure.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Strong attention to detail and confidence working with technology and data.
- A calm, analytical approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
- The ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively within a team.
- Flexibility to work varying shift times, including early mornings and evenings.
- A genuine interest in innovation, continuous improvement, and sustainable food production.
